Short description

Hypnos is the gentle god of sleep, rest, and dreams. He brings peace to weary minds and softens suffering through sacred rest. Spiritually, he represents healing, calmness, dreams, and restoration. Hypnos is often portrayed as the twin brother of Thanatos, showing us of how similar the ancient greeks saw sleep and death, both sons of the night (Nyx).

Symbolism

Sacred symbols of Hypnos include poppies, feathers, pillows, dream imagery, and dark wings. Animals associated with him include owls and moths.
