How to worship Artemis

Short description

Artemis is the goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, transitions, nature, vegetation, childbirth, care of children (especially young girls), and chastity. She is freedom and wildness. She runs through thorns and thistles, and tames the untameable. She guards her independence and sacred solitude. She loves both the hunter and the hunted. She protects those who choose their own path and follow their instinct, the vulnerable and the wild ones.

Symbolism

She is often portrayed with her hunting bow and arrows. Her statues show her alongside her wild companions, like a deer or bear. Her primary sacred plants are the cypress tree, palm tree and amaranth.

Prayer

This is meant as an example, not a rule or expectation

Hail Artemis, sister of the far shooter, revered virgin, she who delights in arrows. Mighty are you, who aides with labour pains and protects young girls. With grace you run among thorns ad thistles, without ever a scratch. The mountains are yours to roam. Please hear my prayers and accept my offerings to you in gratitude for the guidance and protection you grant me. O guardian of the forest, grant me your protection and care.
