How to worship Poseidon

Short description

Poseidon is the King of the seas, god of earthquakes, floods and horses. He is the deep, everchanging and restless sea. He gives and he takes. He is the untamed forces within and around us, teaching us respect for nature's true power.

Symbolism

You can easily recognise Poseidon by his trident. He is often accompanied by horses, dolphins or bulls. His sacred plants are the pine tree and celery.

Prayer

This is meant as an example, not a rule or expectation

Hear, Poseidon, lord of the sea, earth-shaker with the golden trident. Mighty are you, who commands the trembling waves. I call to you, earth-shaking, dark-haired God. Who is the tamer of horses and a saviour of ships. Please hear my prayers and accept my offerings to you in gratitude for you blessings, your kindness and benevolence. O blessed one, be kindly in heart and help those who voyage in ships.
